Williams Given Honors at Testimonial
The California Eagle reports that Paul R. Williams is honored as "one of California's distinguished native sons" at a celebratory breakfast attended by more than 300 people. Meritorious awards are given him from various city and county officials as well as the Young Republicans Unlimited for his service to the region. Prof. Charles A. Bigger dedicates a poem to the honoree, titled "The Man Wanted."
Building Your Airport From the Ground Up
Los Angeles Times, November 15, 1961
"Superlatives are necessary to describe this, one of the West's largest and most complex construction projects begun in December 1957. [Los Angeles International Airport] First came 18 months of paper work, the blue print stage of planning and design by a joint venture of architects and engineers—Charles Luckman and Associates (successors to Pereira and Luckman), Weldon Becket, and Paul R. Williams. Thousands of workmen representing every building trade, together with hundreds of pieces of heavy equipment were required to transform bare land into a transporation metropolis which includes over 1,200,000 sq. ft. of buildings and 175 acres of paving."
On June 25, 1961, Vice President Lyndon Johnson dedicates the new "Jet Age" Airport at Los Angeles International Airport.
Carver Dedicates Building Thursday
The California Eagle, March 9, 1961
"The wraps are off and the Carver Junior High School's new look will be open to public inspection during dedication ceremonys Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m."
"Paul Williams, architect and designer of the $2,000,000 improvement, will climax the evening's activities by presenting the keys of the new buildings to Principal Llewellyn Mazique."
